Using Social Media to Maximize the Value of Your Soft Play Area

If your mall, airport, restaurant or other venue has recently installed a soft play area, you want to let potential customers know about it. Social media networks are a free, easy and fast way to get the word out.

The number of social network users has increased dramatically in the past few years. Facebook has over 1.23 billion users as of March 2014. Twitter has 243 million monthly active users. Instagram has 150 million users. Even the decidedly un-hip Myspace still has 36 million users.

The debate is still on as to whether social media advertising is more beneficial than traditional advertising outlets such as billboards and commercials. But it would be crazy not to take advantage of the vast audience that social media offers to companies.

There are many ways to spread the word of your soft play park on social media. Here are some ways to get noticed on social media:

  • Create a unique, catchy hashtag for social media users posting pics of your play area
Most social media users want their pictures to be seen and "liked" by as many people as possible. Post a sign near your play area asking users to tag their photos on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook with a fun hashtag like #ValleyMallPlayPark. Say that you will retweet or regram the best photos. This will be beneficial to both you and the customer posting the picture. Their followers will be made aware of your play area, while your followers will check out their account for more great pictures. You can even offer other prizes for pictures, such as a gift card or gift basket.

  • Tweet the facts about your soft play area
Parents are always concerned of their children's safety. Reassure parents that your play area is safe and sanitary by posting the facts. If your play area was created by DW Designs Inc, you can let your customers know that your play area has met the standards set forth by the American Society of Testing and Materials(ASTM). You can even retweet one of our numerous tweets explaining the safety of our play areas. We also have several blog posts explaining the strict health and safety measures we adhere to during the soft play area design and installation process. Parents will know that your venue's play area is safe for their kids and will want to take their children there.
  • Countdown to special events
Many shopping centers hold special events in their soft play areas. Events like a Diaper Derby or storytime session are popular with both kids and parents. Make sure you get the word out about your upcoming special event by posting a countdown on your social media networks. Many businesses make the mistake of only announcing their special event once or twice. Post a fun hashtag daily like "#5daystilDiaperDerby" so customers will remember the event. Customers might even join in on the fun with tweets like "Our kids are so excited! #5daystilDiaperDerby". Social media can maximize the turnout for your special event.

Social media is a fun and free way to monetize your play area and build on customer excitement. As more and more companies appear on social media, you want to make your presence known. Keep in mind the aforementioned tips and your soft play area will be the talk of the town!
